Daughter has Lupus
My daughter is 14 and has Lupus. She is going to participate in The Walk For Lupus Now on May 1 in Raleigh, NC. Please visit walkforlupusnow.kintera.org/Raleigh/rileyhart. No donation is too small. It’s been a long hard road for her since being diagnosed. You can’t fully understand unless you’ve been there. By donating to The Lupus Foundation, you will be helping thousands of...

A relationship isn't strong without
Fights/Arguments Problems Time away from each other Tears Sacrifices Irritation Heartache Because people think that a relationship is perfect when they always get along and never fight. But really you need those things to make a relationship strong, you need those things too see how much both of you can with stand and if these feelings are just butterflies or if they really mean something...

Curious.....
If you had children between the ages of 5-10 years old, would you be interested in having them attend an etiquette class that was fun and appropriate for their age? I’m thinking of starting my own business and think it would be great in a military town but have no idea. And remember we’re talking the basics like introductions, table manners etc… Please send me any of your...

Tell your love story
How did you meet your Marine and if you’re planning on getting married if you aren’t already, what are your plans? My husband and I were actually a blind date, to The Marine Corps Birthday Ball, set up by mutual friends! He called me and we talked for hours two or three times before the actual date but it was a true blind date. After that first four hour phone conversation, I told my...

Experience advice...if you're interested.
This is going to sound VERY strange but here goes and please remember it’s just a thought, no judgements etc… And the final decision is ALWAYS up to you. If you are newly married to a Marine or have a Marine boyfriend, try to wait until he is at least a Sgt. before you have kids. The number of military families on welfare etc…is astronomical. If you wait until he is a Sgt. you...

Duty stations
My husband and I have always been stationed for the most part on the east coast. Part of that is because of the airframe he flies and the other is because we asked to stay on the east coast in order to be some what close to family. Well, now that we’re getting older and most likely don’t have many movies left before retirement, I’m beginning to second guess myself. When else...

Stay involved
Speaking from experience, stay involved as much as you can. The military offers so many program and events to attend so you should pick which ones suit you best. Throughout the years, I have found it so helpful to stay involved and that in itself kept me in the loop. You may receive an invitation to go to a coffee. Boring, right? Wrong! Coffee’s are no longer the traditional stuffy...

Neighborhood woes...
Living in base house has it’s ups and downs. However, when the neighborhood bully happens to be a Col’s son and bullies kids with parents of a lesser rank, it sucks! Can’t wait for moving seasons and hope they are the first to go. The only thing better that could happen is that the entire officer housing area become acutely aware of the entire families lack of character and...
